Body Mass Index (BMI)
Between 25 and 30 means you are overweight.
If your BMI is over 30, you are obese.
At this level, your excess weight starts to create health problems.
If your BMI is 35 or over, you are severely obese.
At this level of overweight, you may already be suffering from secondary diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and sleep apnoea.
Category BMI (weight/height) Risk of Symptoms/Illness:
Low weight < 18.5 low
Normal weight 18.5 - 24.9 average
Overweight > 25.0
Pre-obese 25.00 - 29.00 slightly increase
Class 1 obesity 30.00 - 34.9 increased
Class 2 obesity 35.00 - 39.9 high
Class 3 obesity <40 very high
